Whether the threat is in North America or abroad, the Beltronics Vector 995 radar detector keeps you driving safely. As the industry leader in technology and innovation, the V995 accurately detects all US radar and laser bands (X, K, Ka) as well as the UK favorite-Ku. All bands are detected at the furthest possible distance including the newest "POP" mode Ka-band threat. With clear voice alerts, you can keep your eyes on the road, not the detector. And when it does alert, the mute button is right in easy reach on the included SmartPlug power cord.

In the area I live the police are notorious for using the Pop K band to find and write tickets to speeders. I was running an older radar detector that worked well for me in every way but this one. The short quick bursts were just not being picked up by my old unit and I got pulled over twice. One was a warning the other was a ticket, ouch.
I looked around and decided to get the Vector 995 for my car and so far the results have been great. This unit does an excellent job of picking up those bursts and warning me with plenty of time to slow down.
You do not have to be a regular speeder to get the benefits from this unit. It is perfect for the average Joe who accidentally gets a little over the limit and needs a little help keeping a clean driving record.

I was expecting this to be a moderate performing radar detector and was even expecting to have to deal with quite a few false alarms since this is a model that is not the latest and greatest on the market. But it was surprisingly accurate and for the most part had few false alarms. In the city as long as I used AutoScan it did better at avoiding these but I did cut down on the range. But then I do not travel at high enough speeds in the city to need a long range.
My only complaint on this model is really a small one and that it is hard to use on a visor. I like having my radar detector on my visor as opposed to on the dash and it since the buttons are on the top it makes getting to them against the visor a little tough. Small complaint, and I have learned to deal with it since it does do such a great job of helping me avoid speed traps.
