Wiring my RX65 directly into the power system of my car made having and operating this radar detector so much better than just running it through the cigarette lighter. When I first got the unit I just used the regular coiled cord that plugged into the lighter and ran up the dash. This got annoying quickly since the wire ran over the face of my stereo this way.

Using this direct wire Smart Plug I was able to get the radar detector wired up directly to the power, the Smart unit was mounted on a blank portion of dash, and the remaining wire then went back through the dash to the actual unit in the window. This is such a clean install and there are no more cords in my way, I totally love it. Plus I still have the mute capabilities at my fingertips with no sacrifices in any way.
