Its always good to keep a backup cord in your vehicle. Standard power cord plugs into 12V cigarette lighter.

I drive a Porsche Cayenne a majority of the time, and for some reason the car has one easily accessible cigarette lighter - a second socket is way back behind the center console. So to accommodate several gadgets I had many of them wired directly into the power. One of them was my Beltronics radar detector.

So whenever I travel I need a backup power cord so that I can use this unit in rental cars. Plus I have to admit I have lost a couple in this process so I have discovered it is best to just keep a couple of these around in case I need to use my radar detector in a car other than my primary vehicle. They are affordable enough, and I have discovered they are not that easy to find in some locations if you need to buy one. So have your own ready!
