If you live in a sunny area like I do the UV rays can be tough on not only your radar detector but the windshield mount as well. The sun was making it so that the suction cups were not effectively holding my radar detector in the windshield. I was also really concerned with how warm the actual unit was getting from the rays hitting it while I drove.

I knew once I saw this visor clip this was exactly what I needed to get my Escort out of the sun. In the end I have been very happy with the clip. It holds the unit tightly even on the most winding roads plus my investment is no longer being exposed to the heat of the sun. The placement also has the radar detector in a position where I can see the visual alerts easier without ever taking my eyes off the road.
